Astrologers have been predicting the Aquarian Age for centuries, noting how when certain planets are in particular alignment, there are massive changes in the world. Because they knew astronomy, they could predict when those alignments would occur. While not all astrologers agreed on the exact start of the Aquarian Age, a significant contingent said it would be in January of 2023.
Anyone who’s ever seen the musical or flm—Hair—probably remembers the song:
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true liberation
Aquarius! Aquarius
It sounded so good. Right around the start of new age, Biden was expunging student loans, expanding Medicare through 2050, vetoing a bill that would allow property owners to ignore environmental issues, supporting Ukraine, and getting the economy back on track. The worst of Covid was over and life was returning to something approximating normal. And then the following year there was a presidential election.
Kamala Harris, even without the blessing of the party that wanted a convention to select a more establishment, male, candidate, had massive rallies across the country and genuinely passionate support. The person who won the election had to pay people to show up at his rallies, and there was plenty of footage of paid attendees walking out early. There was speculation that voting results were tampered with, using Starlink, and Musk said publicly, in regard to an unspecified act, “I could go to jail for this.” It’s all very fishy.
We got an administration antithetical to the Aquarian Age. There’s less peace than we’ve had since W went away, more international hostility, rising costs, more health issues, daily outright lies, no trust, escalating hate, and the undoing of so many things that made our lives better. The only people who got love were the ones who bought it, sympathy was reserved for the poor billionaires having to pay taxes, and the corruption and stupidity were so extreme that only the diehard MAGAs and racist sociopaths couldn’t see it.
So, if we were supposed to be entering a golden age of goodness. it’s fair to wonder why we got the opposite. A very likely reason is that we needed to be stripped of so much that was good and be confronted with so much that was awful that Americans suddenly realized that huge swaths of us want the same things, like ending the war, revealing the Epstein files, giving us affordable healthcare, healing the environment, and so on. Former supporters of the president are admitting to embarrassment and fleeing, his approval is low, and progressive Democrats are winning primaries across the country.
We’ve been pushed to the brink of the cliff, where if things got any worse, we’d plummet into complete self-destruction. There’s oblique evidence that it’s been the plan. If you saw the pictures from that strange meeting in Helsinki, which was intentionally undocumented, you saw Putin walking out looking like a cat that swallowed a canary, and “our” guy looking like a whipped dog. The destruction of America seems like the payback for a building full of Kremlin propagandists that bombarded Facebook to elect him the first time, keeping him out of jail.
Fortunately, the reversal of the quality of life has affected everyone enough to build an increasingly unified resistance, and only the people who get massive tax breaks, are ultra right wing, or are overtly sexist or racist are fine with his policies. The vast majority of the rest of us have had enough. Even MAGA people are done with the unreleased Epstein files.
But what are we seeing now? The biggest city in America elected an unknown politician as mayor. Mamdani was only in office for a few weeks when he got rid of the grift in city government and used that wasteful spending to create free childcare and not-for-profit grocery stores instead. He ordered a rent freeze for a couple of years to compensate for the rise in expenses. People loved it. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic primary, even though his own party’s status-quo wing outspent him 11 to 1, and other elections in the state also went to progressives. Money usually has a major role in who wins elections, but after the decimation of the once comfortable American way of life, voters really want change.
Young voters especially are fed up with the status quo. Their working class parents could buy homes, but they can’t. They see other civilized countries have universal health care, free college, affordable housing, and concern for the common good, and think it’s time to do that here, too. Backed against the psychological wall, they are coming out fighting— and this is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.
